Academic exchange
On the 1st of October students, postgraduate students and young scientists and academic staff of North Caucasus State Technical University met the official representative of German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in the North Caucasus Region, Holger Karlson.
German Academic Exchange Service is the largest German support organization in the field of international academic co-operation. The agency is engaged in academic exchange programs for scientists and students. DAAD merges 232 German higher education institutions, among which are universities of Dresden, Munich, Berlin and many other universities, co-operating with North Caucasus State Technical University. DAAD has 14 regional offices and 50 information centers around the world and awards about 50 000 grants annually. Russian DAAD network has been functioning for 20 years supporting cultural, scientific, economic and political activities of younger generations in Germany and abroad and developing their sociability and mutual understanding.
During the meeting Holger Karlson informed attendees about DAAD scholarship programs. Students, graduates, postgraduates, young scientists, academics, associate professors and professors can take learning-based internships, get a degree and pursue research in any higher education institution of Germany. Everyone will be able to compare scientific approaches, gain experience, make new business contacts. The academic exchange can last from two weeks till six months. All this time a monthly scholarship from 650 euro for students to 2000 euro for doctors of scientists is paid.
To have a possibility to go to Germany one should have filled in the form to substantiate the necessity of the German study course, in addition, one should have passed the German language test. After the lecture the students could pass the language test. Holger Karlson was surprised by the German language skills of students and academic staff of NCSTU. Those who have successfully passed the test can fill in the forms via the Internet and prepare for the trip to Germany.
